Our doctors all hold professional memberships with the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, and the Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Miranda Trammell graduated from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Following graduation, she joined a busy, small animal practice where her mentors provided her with invaluable experience. Dr. Trammell grew up in Forestdale, and has lived in the Gardendale area since graduation. She enjoys getting to know fellow members of the community and developing long-term relationships with pets and their families – both in and out of the exam room! Dr. Trammell finally met the perfect man who understands her, as well as her love for all of her crazy critters. They married in 2011 and have two children, Walker and Audrey Kay.
Dr. Brandon McKim, Co-Owner
Dr. McKim earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Montevallo in 2000, followed by his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 2005. Since graduation, he has spent his time in small animal practice, where he has gained a wide array of experience in medicine and surgery with a special interest and talent in orthopedic surgery. Dr. McKim is a native of Alabaster, Alabama, where he currently resides with his wife, Melissa, daughters Neeley, Madelyn and Nora and their dog, Newton and cat, Krispy.
Dr. Stevan Parsons, Associate
Dr. Stevan H. Parsons graduated from Hueytown High School in 1975 and Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. In 1986 he opened Pleasant Grove Veterinary Clinic and served the residents of that community for over 28 years. One of the finest veterinarians in practice today, “Dr. P” brings over 30 years of experience to our clinic and we know you will find him compassionate and sincere in his treatment of your pets. Outside of work, Dr. P teaches a Sunday School Class and serves as a deacon at Maytown Baptist Church. He also serves as Mayor of Sylvan Springs, AL. He and his wife, Jennifer have been married for 38 years and have two adult children and 11 grandchildren.
Dr. Nicole Metcalf, Associate
Dr. Metcalf joined Mercy Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in January 2015. She graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 and started her career in a busy small animal practice in Massachusetts. In 2006, she and her husband relocated to Alabama where she has worked as both a small animal practitioner and the veterinarian overseeing the medical needs for Jefferson County’s animal control operations. Dr. Metcalf has a special interest in exotic animal medical practice and small animal dentistry.
Dr. Virginia Bruch, Associate
Dr. Bruch joined Mercy Animal Hospital as an Associate Veterinarian in June of 2017. She grew up in Greenville, South Carolina but she fell in love with the Birmingham area while here visiting family and friends. After receiving a B.S. degree in Animal and Veterinary Science at Clemson University, she went on to attend the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and earned her degree in 2017. Her curriculum emphasized both Large and Small Animal Medicine. She is very excited to be here in Birmingham and to have joined the Mercy family!
Her special interests include internal medicine, behavior, ophthalmology and cuddling new puppies.
In her free time, Dr. Bruch enjoys hiking, riding horses, tennis, and experiencing the great food and local entertainment of Birmingham.
Dr. Robin Crider, Associate
Dr. Robin Crider joined Mercy Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in June 2018. She graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Since graduation, she has practiced at a busy small animal practice in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Crider is a native of Monroe, Louisiana and she currently resides with her husband Jeremy and sons Jacob and Jesse in Homewood, Alabama. She has a miniature poodle name Maxwell and a Sphynx cat named Lillie.
